Prizes

Maine Fishing Tournament

The 17 Rivers Striper Tournament is organized as a Catch & Release Tournament. To qualify for prizes anglers must submit two photographs of their catch. See Fish Submission for details on what the photographs must depict.

Prizes will be awarded based on a unique scoring system designed to level the playing field for all anglers.

SCORE = (Fish Length X Method X Style)

Method refers whether you fished from a boat or shore.

Style refers to whether you caught your striper using bait, artificial lures (spin) or flies.

A weighting factor is assigned to each variable in both the method and style categories. For method, the weighting factor favors the shore angler, offseting a mobility advantage for anglers using boats. For style, this weighting factor favors both fly and artificial lures over bait, to encourage fishing practices that aren’t as harmful to fish. To review how the scoring system is structured see the Angler Registration & Rules Form.
